I have no idea, but it kind of looks like some kind of microscope.
Does anyone know what this is? I just bought it for the encoder and guides, but I wonder if its of any other use as it is?

I'm with CNCRob, it looks like some kind of industrial microscope, without the microscope. The three lenses look like they can be rotated to change the level of magnification.
Is there any other available information? Manufacturer, make, model, codes, or serial number(s)? Do you know what kind of industry it was used in? Where did you get it? It doesn't look like something that someone would just leave on the side of the road, although I keep looking!

It came from ebay, it was in the microscope section, I found it because it was listed under RFS Elektronik , but that is the label on the encoder, and RFS doesent make microscopes. I havent found any microscopes anywhere on the web that look anything like it. I havent recieved it yet, I dont even know what its made out. It might become the start of a new mini mill project, if its sturdy enough.
I was just hoping someone had used one like it before, and knew some specific info about it. For 35.00, even if I just get an encoder out of it I wont lose. Thanks for your reply's.

Hmmm... if I had to guess I'd say it's part of a photoenlargement setup. If so, then the lenses themselves may be worth more than you paid for the thing.

film at 11 ( or whenever I can get a camera in the shop. )
Iso, I meant the microscope thing, is yours made of aluminum or steel? It sounds like its perfect for a small mill. Yeah, try to get some pics if you can.

It's a thang-a-majegit. Damned impressive one also.

Here we have yet another fine example of BICILN.
This common disorder is rarely treatable and infects several thousand people worldwide. Many resort to extreme measures such as adding on to their homes and garages to store the fruits of the addiction while others choose to simply pile their loot in high stacks, leaving only narrow walking paths through their work spaces. Some of the more resourceful and motivated individuals will actually make something from their loot, but for the most part it is just collected for a rainy day. Support groups such as cnczone.com exist to help and console those afflicted with "Buy It Cuz It Looks Neat" syndrome.
I wish you luck in your pursuit, Mr. Nutz.

Consistency is a good thing....unless you're consistently an idiot.
The hole in it is about the right size for a stereo microscope. It kind of looks like a magnifier unit used when they solder up intergrated circuits like processor chips. All those tiny connections.
If it's not nailed down, it's mine.
If I can pry it loose, it's not nailed down.
