    Jewelery Mill

    IM LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO CAN GIVE ME SOME POINTERS TO HELP ME decide on A MILL .] HAVE A COMPUTER RUNNING WINDOWS XP AND A LAPTOP RUNNING WINDOWS 95.NOT MUCH KNOWLEDGE IN ELECTRONICS .I have plenty of time to get this up and running this is just an option.the other option is do I work with the existing harbor freight 44991 mill I already own.http://www.aztec-net.com/~jdemand/mill.html because the link looks like he did it for peanuts.I was just thinking the black pipe mill jeff has might be a good start to learn with.

    hehe i woundn't say peanuts steppers/servo+controllers+software isn't cheap and about any 4th axis software is a lot. good luck

    look at this z

    Can someone clue me in as to how they think z on the vice mill in the link below was constructed and get me oriented in this direction any help would be appreciated.Thank you very metal. http://www.aztec-net.com/~jdemand/mill.html

    It appears that the z-axis is made up of a linear shaft assembly. Looks like 1/2 or 3/4 in shafts...can't tell if the linear bearing are open or closed. Looks like a stepper motor is used to drive the z-axis leadscrew.
