What pulleys and timing belts do I buy from sdp-si???

Hi all, I need to knock up a timing belt reduction like the one in the photo. I was thinking of around a 6:1 ratio. ie 10 tooth and 60 tooth pulley. I would like to use a 3/4" belt.

How are those plastic pulleys with the aluminium inserts? are they okay for cnc use?

I want to buy from www.sdp-si.com. I had sent them an email telling them what I have do and what I need for my plasma table.

    http://plasmatable.bravehost.com/

    and

Started to build my plasma table.

They replied back that they do not select parts for people and that I would need to get an engineer to do that. Pathetic support for customers. So anyway. I need to find some one to get me the part numbers from the sdp-si.com website for me to make a belt drive.

the centre distance is to be 250mm.

    6:1 ratio

    3/4" belt

    1/2" drive shaft internal diameter

    plastic ok

    Allloy or aluminum prefered

    Steel ok.

    Cheers

What diameter of bore do you need. Any preference for GT2, L, H , L, XL, MXL or pitch?

    Bore is for 1/2" shafts.

Don't know what size is best or what pitch is best. All I know is that I think that 1/2 wide belt will be too small and that I might have to use a 3/4 wide belt.

For the GT2 5mm pitch pulleys with 1/2 inch bore, 15mm belt width (0.691 inches), the best ratio is about 3 to 1. What would you like to do?

    andy_ck87028,

smallparts.com.au actually use the sdp-si.com stuff. My email ended up getting directed to smallparts.com.au

I still like the idea of going with sdp-si.com as the shipping is direct and it is also faster to get here.

    ViperTX,

I like what you have sugested. I have had a problem with the whole plasma table vibrating like its convulsing after having a hard night on the grog.

So I decided to see what would happen to the noise/vibration if I was to disconnect the motor away from the pinion. And what I found out was that the really loud noise disapeared.

So the vibration must be transfering to the rack from the motor. Now I am thinking that by using a rubber timing belt this vibration will not be transfered to the rack???

I like the idea of the stuff that you reccomended ViperTX. I will now try to find all the part numbers to order the stuff that you reccomended.

    Peter.
