    rotary axis

    Hi


    Does the fourth or fifth axis have reference point?
    Does the rotary axis need go to reference point when turn on the cnc machine?

    there is no need for one on a general purpose machine, but if you want you can add one and mach3 or the control software of your choice will know this is ZERO when you reference the machine, otherwise it will not move and use as zero the position where it was when referencing. Hope this helps.

    The electronic type of hall switch is ideal for a rotary axis home switch.

    This is because it can operate in "slide-by" mode and will not interfere in the continuous rotation.

    It will also give very high homing accuracy in slide-by mode, better then 0.001".
