    Shaft rotation NOTOK

    Hi,

I am doing a PLAIN BEARING ARRANGEMENT. I grinded a shaft & inserted it in a hole ( which is in a housing ).

A unique problem which I sense is that -

When i do half rotation of the shaft, it moves OK (a good clearence fit is there) but the half rotation of the shaft is NOTOK. In other words, extra radial play ( or clearence ) is there....

Is that so because the Ovality of the hole (in the housing) is more & hence the shaft doesn't rotates properly & smoothly for complete rotation ??

    Need Help
    Thanks
    Ashish

Hi, no, if'n the shaft is round and the hole is oval the shaft will still rotate evenly.

If'n the shaft has been ground oval and the hole is oval (worn) then the shaft will be tight when you turn it more than 180 degrees.

    It can not be otherwise.

Check both shaft and bore diams.
    Ian.
