Extra gear added - no change

    Original setup:

Stepper motor with 19-teeth pinion gear drives a 38-teeth gear which drives a timing belt. Belt linear displacement = 0,20 mm/step.

    New setup:

Stepper motor with 19-teeth pinion gear drives an intermediate 30-teeth gear which drives a 38-teeth gear which drives a timing belt.
    Belt linear displacement = 0,20 mm/step.

Stepper still driven in the same way.

I am perplex: changing from 19/38 to 19/30/38 made me to expect a substantial reduction of the mm/step value.

    How comes...?

    SOLVED

MY MISTAKE: I divided by 101 and they were 1001 steps. Now all is OK.

your intermediate 30 tooth gear is just an idler gear as you have it... you need another smaller gear on a common shaft as the 30 tooth gear for reduction
if you are looking for more reduction then connect another 19 tooth gear to the same shaft as the 30 tooth and drive the 38 with that...
    ex. stepper-19>>30(connecting shaft)19>>38-output

+ with the idler it will reverse the output direction!
