    Exclamation Sprocket Profile Generation

Does anyone know of any software that will generate sprocket profiles?

I'm looking into makeing Bike sprockets, and it would save me a bunch of engineering time if there was software that would automatically generate the profile based on the chain type used.

    Thanks,

    MAK

Attached is a photo of three software packages for chain sprockets in the range of 20-40 tooth. Avoiding these is not to difficult. There is a circle of holes(roller size). The tooth correction is the rolling out of the chainlink in relation to the next hole.

Thanks, that was what I was after.

There are so many of those machinist utilities, I couldn't remember which one would spit out sprockt profiles.

Thank you all so much for the information that has been gathered on this site...
I just signed up today, and with this, I think I have made my husband's day! He is now hard at making the sprockets for the robot that he has been working on for some time.
Believe me, this site has been saved to favorites and thank you all for asking and answering questions that are actually useful!

There is another Thread where a guy called Mike wrote a small app that generates dxf and G code for sprockets. You may want to have a look.

Here's the way to go if you don't want to buy software this site explains how to do it manually then, you'll just need a CAD program.

    Default Sprocket Program

Try this one out. It seems to work well and it's free. Creates a .dxf file of the entire sprocket save it into your cad and cut it. It will also generate G code.

Sprocketeer is an awesome program. I made a custom sprocket last week for a guy who does trick riding on a sports bike and needed a different ratio.

Cut from .025 steel and then powdercoated...
