Hi to All of You, I need help for a problem that I think many people already had at least once : I've got a problem on a Mitsubishi Meldas Servo Axis Unit MDS-B-V1-70, installed on a Mazak FH8800 with a Fusion640 CNC. Because I have available in magazine the same kind of servo but of higher size ( MDS-B-V1-90 ) it would be nice to use this, but a technic of Mazak ( with not much experience ! ) said me that it could not be possibile due to any 'system parameters' in Mitsubishi Fusion CNC : what can I do for use this servo of 42A at the place of the original 35A ?? MANY THANKS TO ANYONE COULD HELP ME !!!! |

| It is possible to swap the servo drives and it will work. The real question is how long will it work for before something becomes damaged. The MDS-B-V1-70 is designed to work with a certain motor/motors while the MDS-B-V1-90 is designed to work with a different motor/motors. So you can see that you would be running a drive that is not designed to run a certain motor. It would be risky to run in this way. |

| So You mean that it's only a hardware problem and there are not any parameters to change ... someone said me that If I do this, I receive an error message at the OS boot ..... About Your suggestion, I could understand if I put a 35A at the place of a 42A without changing the motor, but changing the original with a bigger size one I was thinking to could sleep calm ... how could the same motor have problems or cause problems to a bigger servo ? MANY THANKS ! |

| No, no parameter changes are needed and you will not see any alarms. Again it is difficult to say if the drive or motor could get damaged. You are running a combination of drive and motor that was not designed to run together. For instance the larger drive could put more current to the smaller motor and cause damage to it over time. Or it could run fine and never have any problems. Without talking to the engineers in Japan that created the drives it is impossible to tell. |
