Are there additional alarms

Hi There;

Go to the Diagnostic page. Are there additional alarms on that Page along with alarm 28.
Also what type of control do you have?
Normally there will be other alarms. What are the status of the Servo drives and spindle controllers?
Did you check all thermal relays to see if any have trip? All these questions are important in order to determine any and all problems you may have .
Check status of other alarms first.
Does this alarm occur at Power Up?

See if you can answer the questions and post back with your findings and I am sure someone on this site will be able to help you out more.

Alarm # 24

Hi There;

See that you have alarm # 24 . The code you posted beside alarm 24 gives me several clues.
The # 2 should be the Z axis and the last numbers 50 gives me another clue. Normally this would be the parameter settings for the (over load time constant) value.
However in most cases it could be the servo drive itself. Open the electrical cabinet and power the machine back up. You should see the Number 50 on one of the drives. In order to power the machine up with the cabinet door open there is a small black button type switch located on the top. Pull this button out and you will be able to power the machine up.
If you see the # 50 on the drive power the machine completely down and remove the motor leads from the drive. If the machine powers up without the # 50 alarm then you may need to increase the setting of the servo overload parameter for that axis. If you still get the alarm then the problem could be the servo drive itself.
Post back with any findings you get.

Hey Larry,

Thanks for the quick reply, how would I increase the setting of the servo overload parameter for the z axis? I seem to have misplaced the manual for this machine, and have it stopped at the moment.

Thanks in advance for your help

Additional Information

Hi There;

Contact Mitsubishi at 847-478-2500. Give them The machine make, model number, serial number along with alarms and condition.
They will be more than helpful in giving you solution and any other advise you will be needing to repair your machine problems.
Sorry I do not have the parameters requirements on file for your machine and Mitsubishi would be of greater help for your problems.

SV022 is the overload detection level and SV022 is the time limit that that level has to stay at in order for the machine to alarm out. Standard settings for this are set by the motor type. It is not recommended that these be changed from the standard value. More then likely there is something else that is causing this alarm. It could be the drive, motor, encoder, cabling, or even some mechanical bind in the machine. If you change the parameters to get it running again it will only be a temporary fix and you might end up making things worse down the road.
You can also call the Mitsubishi Canada office at 905 475 7728.
