Need Help!- QT-20 220 Error

We have a 98 QT-20 that the turret will spin for 10 seconds or so in either direction and then clamp back. The "220 Turret position sensor half" error pops up. When it clamps back it will show the wrong tool number being up and we have even had Tool 0 up on the control?? Sometimes you can index it fine and the tool # will be correct, but if it takes off in a free spin it will show the wrong number again.

If you take the turret rear cover off there may be a Turret Postion Encoder. Not sure if there is one on your machine. If there is a Encoder , rotate the turret to position # 1. There is an LED that will come on when at Tool#1.
These Encoder have a sensing area of about 1/8 inch total. To adjust the encoder correctly loosen the small plates that secure it to the mounting area. Rotate CCW until the LED goes out and mark this position where the LED goes out. Then Rotate it again CW until it comes on again and continue to ratate CW util it goes out again. Mark this position as well. Then Rotate the encoder in the middle of the 2 marks that you made.
There should be some proximity swithes that are for Clamp and Unclamp. Check diagnostic signal to insure these switches are working correctly.
You also may want to check to see if there is an encoder the condition of the Key on the shaft of the encoder.
