    alarm on mazak

Im looking at purchasing a 1988 Mazatrol Cam T-2 CNC Control, 8 Station Turret, Tailstock, 8" Power Chuck

There is an alarm code showing which is defined as the following: # 9, “No feedback signal is returned from the X-Axial resolver in response to a NC unit command

Is this a bad alarm, or something simple .

Also can one get parts for these early machines???

    Thanks Chips

This seems like a relatively simple alarm and pretty straight forward.
    Could be the following:

    1) Bad resolver
    2) Bad feedback cable
    3) Bad feedback card (FX06). Maybe just an adjustment on this card. F/B signal could be present, but low.

I don't suspect the servo drive since feedback goes directly to the CNC.

You can get them from Mitsubishi in Chicago.
Although the X & Z are different resolutions, you can swap them over just to check, or if you identify the feedback cables on the processor board, you can swap them to see if the fault follows the plug.
Make sure you get the right part number off the unit, the Mazak parts list sometimes shows the wrong resolution part.

    a few years later...

can anyone lead me in the right direction for getting a resolver/pick up unit/encoder (or whatever mazak calls them) for an M4 lathe?

the ink on the tag is faded, but, it looks like a

Mitsubishi will sell it to you. I believe the new model which replaces yours is RT-6XC-11.

    Solved!

    10-2012
If anyone ever has this exact problem, our machine is an M4 Lathe with T1 control.

The resolver/Pick up unit went out and the numbers on the old part (listed in my previous post) are obsolete.

The NEW part is as follows:
    TYPE: RT-6 X C -11
    SPEC: BKO-NC60620
    PARTS NO: TS2014N 46 E 3 – 1

I hope this helps with anyone about to pull their hair out looking for a replacement.

    THANK YOU Rokkin
