Hi, I have a Mazak VQC 15/40. The problem is that machine do "HOME 1" in X,Y,Z axis, but in " HOME 2" only do in X and Z axis, Y axis donīt. I think that due this problem, machine donīt want to go to the change tool area via MDI or program. All sensors and swiches have been cleaned. Can someone help me please? Thanks in advance. |

| Just a guess: Home 1 and home 2 in Y axis is the exact same position. Home 1 is associated with G28, return to first reference position and Home 2 is associated with G30, second ref position. The second ref is used for fixed positioning required for some tool changers on a typical m/c. for what it's worth. -jim |

| Hi There; Check your tool drum switches . My reply earlier was mis leading . The prox switch on the axis is 2nd Y axis overtravel. However if you are not getting a overtravel then the problem may be Parameters as post in another reply. Since the machine does home out correctly (Home ) , try the following checks. M19 ( Does the spindle orient correctly) Is there a Tool in the spindle ( Does the Control know if tool is present in the spindle) Did the Magazine rotate to the tool that was commanded MTSS Service Last edited by MTSS Service; 09-08-2009 at 08:31 AM. | I may be going down the wrong road here but isn't there one switch for Home 1 (G28) and any additional Home's are done through parameter based off of where Home 1 is? I know this is how most modern machines work. Maybe the parameter for Home 2 on Z got changed? Just a thought. |

| I have a VQC 20/40B. It has an M2 control w/ drum style toolchanger. Wouldn't #2 HOME for Y be inside the drum directly located over a pocket? If this is the case then the drum cover would need to be opened, in my experience if the drum cover is open some motion is limited. Other than manually jogging each axis etc. I have never tried to home the axis to ref2 so I may be way off. |

| Ok, thank you for all your replies. Problem has been partially solved. After several hours trying to understan parameters on the screen, becouse i donīt have parameters manuals, i have found tha parameters M5 for Y and Z axis have missed a pair of zeros. Now machine does tool changes without problems, but still do not home2 Y axis. When i try to do home 2 i have alarm nš 103 soft limit+Y, or nš 127 origin return dir illegal axis, so i think that it is not a burned led on the control panel. |

| Really though, as long as you can do toolchanges without alarms, you should be able to run the machine and make parts. Unless your trying to adjust alignment of the toolholder pocket to spindle, I don't see the need to return the Y to the second reference point. It's possible the control won't let you do this manually anyway, in order to prevent a crash. The second reference point for Y is directly over the toolchanger drum pocket. Good luck |
