M2 External Outputs - Feed Hold, Emergency Stop

Within the next few weeks it looks like I will need to be installing a Nikken CNC-250DCF indexer on my M2 powered VQC-20/40B.

I have both the electrical manual for the M2 and the indexer.

What I am trying to locate is a spot inside the machine electrical cabinet where I can connect to the index controller feed hold and emergency stop inputs.

I'm pretty sure I can hook up to the EM stop relay but the feed hold connection stumps me. I can't find any mention of an external feed hold output from the M2, although external feed hold input was an option (remote feed hold button for ex.). I suppose when it comes right down to it, I could just jumper across the input to ground and forget about it, but I would rather have it hooked up for safety reasons.

Has anyone run into this before?

Wink

There is no feed hold for an indexer. It uses an M code (M43) and just outputs the signal to the indexer. You can use the Index Unit to control the indexer in Mazatrol programs. Set parameter AF1 to the minimum index angle you need. The control will output the correct number of M43 commands to get to the angle in the Index Unit. (AF1=15, Index to 90, control outputs 6 M43 commands to the indexer) The control will keep track of were it is at but you must reset it to the angle you want for a restart and bring it back to zero after the program is done. It assumes the starting angle is 0. Hope that helps you out. Good Luck.
