Mazak Variaxis 630-5X "Pallet Select Driver Alarm"

This machine is about 6yrs old and due a battery change on the MR J2-60CT (which was showing an alarm) so we went ahead and did the change with the power on.
After restarting the machine I carried on operating until I needed to perform a pallet change when it started the cycle and lifted the pallet and stopped there.
I have the alarm: "330 Pallet Select Driver Alarm"
The MR J2 displays AL - 01 - n1 - 01
In manual operation I can't even complete the pallet change cycle. Nothing moves even in "interlock disable mode" which the book describes as pressing the "1 Cycle" button for 5sec followed by entering the "2PC MNT" menu pg2 and pressing the "Pallet Neglect" button (which I don't have, just an empty button).
I can hydraulically stroke the pallet lifter down but I feel as though it has lost it's position.
I can only perform home return on X, Y, Z. (and 2nd home for X)
A, & C would, obviously, result in serious damage.
Although the button flashes for Pallet changer home return, there is no movement.
I'm now about as stuck as this machine!!
I've used the manual pallet change on several occasions before without difficulty. I get the feeling there may be an issue with the MR J2 Driver preventing me from moving the changer or the loader/unloader.
Any ideas?

Pete

Small progress.
I managed to identify Pallet 1 and get it into the Pallet Load position.
I can then clamp the pallet but I'm still unable to retract the hook.
I noticed when the pallet clamps, the "Pallet Load" indicator goes out.
Should this remain lit up? If so it would explain why the hook won't retract.

please check

X-axis must be at 2nd Home pos.
Y& axis must be at 1st Home Pos.

check MR-J2 pos. setting data: Pos.1,Pos.2.Pos.3.Pos.4 ; and compare the machine's Pos data, then do the next step.

See if you can use the MR-J2 setup software and repair the ABS position. If the repair button is not highlighted, then you will have to do the procedure the long way.

Open Mr-j2 software --- select axis --- open parameter screen --- open test operation and answer yes --- go back to pameter screen --- then click " repair abs", --- answer Yes. --- close Mr-j2 --- Restart .

Please try !
