depends on the control vintage somewhat. you can only do I.D. type thread milling in mazatrol. O.D. would be manual unit or G code.
when setting up a point machining unit, key in "0" (numeric zero) in the field for surface finish designation. the softkeys show 1 through 9 and 0 is not part of the softkey set. this trick FORCES the tool path to always be in helix. if no 0 then mazatrol does a 360 clean up pass at the bottom with no helix! because it thinks youre using a ordinary end mill.
point machining- tap and point machining circle mill can both thread mill, eventually.
its tough to do a blind hole, too, mazatrol starts the mill DEEPER that your Z starting point, to allow ramping in. there may be a tpc that controls this?
i've seen some discussion on fusion and earlier that you have to name the tool as a floating tap? in tool data? matrix its prob best to name the tool as an endmill instead of a tap, too.
this is just my 2 cents. there is probably a few roads to get this. this is just what i remember off the top of my head.
