| I am running a Mazak with a M+ control in eia/iso. We cannot get it to read the tool height offsets. We have always ran in Mazatrol before. It will run the program above the part but is not compensating for the tool lenght differances. Could someone maybe post a smple program or expain this to me. Thanks Mike |

| You don't need it if your parameter is set that way... You can still be set to use Tool Data but need G43 and no "H"....

that write up i think is still valid to this day. To summarize, in m/c G code, you can parameterize the tool length comp to do it the G code way or Mazatrol way. Same with CRC. The G code way is invoked with G43 and H register, same as fanuc. G41/42 and D register, also same as Fanuc. The Mazak way I think is much much cooler. In mazak land, tool length comp GOES WITH THE TOOL CHANGE. Also, the comp stays in the coordinate system until the tool is changed out. G code reset extinguishes the TLC. CRC in Mazatrol is invoked with G41/42 and the mazatrol way for crc is that mazatrol programs part shape and mazatrol creates tool path based on ACTUAL DIA in tool data. You can CRC in G code using half the number in tool data, or go straight G code and use the EIA offset registers. Modern G code program is always to cutter centerline and the CRC comp value is typically small to control size. It's probably best to parameterize to use EIA CRC registers for CRC in G code, as the Mazak way is part shape, and modern G code is cutter centerline. So you can parameterize the machine for the ways most suitable for your shop and personnel. I am a big fan of doing TLC the mazatrol way. makes restarts less dangerous. CRC with a CAM created program is probably best the G code way. jim |
