Mastercam solids help

I'm trying to open in Mastercam X3 a .SLDPRT file
and I get a message saying "Cannot find Parasolid data in solid works file".
We do not have the solids option with our Mastercam.
Is there something I can do to open this file and get
measurements.?

FWIW, you may be in the wrong forum.

sounds like you need to open in solidworks and save as with a format that mastercam can accept.

but, it sounds like your seat is not configured to accept 3D files in the first place.

Sorry, this is just pure guessing on my part.

Ask this in the MasterCam forum but...

You don't need Solids option to open a solid file. You just can't do anything with it (edit, toolpaths, etc). Not sure about measuring but I think you can do that. Also, cannot save anything in solids.

However, something is wrong with the file so MasterCam can't extract the part. Could be lots of different reasons....

Found out I needed a Mastercam patch fix
then my files opened.

go to mastercam webside down load add -on :
http://updates.mastercam.com/x3/rele...dworks-web.exe ( if your version is X3 )
extract and install.
now go to solidworks
options -> add in -> check mark in mastercam direct .
now everytime you want you want transfer parts from solidworks to mastercam .
on the top next to solidworks logo you will see mastercam direct , roll down click on mastercamx ->click on GREEN check mark accept . It will auto transfer to mastercam
