Question Nexus lathe max offset

We have had some operators go to offset a tool -.004 and go -4. with bad results as you might guess.
I have tried to use the max offset colum to the right but cannot get it to work.
We would like the machine to alarm or ignore offsets larger than .04 or a set value, any ideas.
Thanks Mike

FWIW

Should be a no brainer to put in a number in "max wear" and then accumulation of wear comps exceeding "max wear" should at least flag this in tool data.

what type of machine and control?

This is on a Mazak Nexus Quick Turn 250-2 MY.
And I tried what you said, I put .1 in the max offset colum and made a 1.0 offset and the machine started and would have ran.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

I think this is a Matrix Control, correct?

We are talking past each other. Do you use Mazatrol TOOL DATA to manage your tools?

Or do you use TOOL OFFSET to manage your tools? TOOL OFFSET is identical to an EIA type machine. To flag excessive wear in EIA TOOL OFFSET would most likely need a macro program you create yourself to do what you want.

TOOL DATA has wear comp X, Y, and Z, and then directly below MAX WEAR X, Y, and Z.

If your accumulated WEAR COMP exceeds the number put in MAX WEAR, there is a flag in the TOOL DATA PAGE that is magenta and says 'over' in the status column on the left side of the display.

There's a hidden 'switch' maybe buried in diagnostic pages that is a setting for "EIA/ISO only" that would make many Mazatrol features invisible.

Are you mazatrolling or G coding?

Paramter F87.2 is

"data change check function"

with this on, EVERY SINGLE offset adjustment should be flagged when the tool is entering the work. I think this is MATRIX only?

So your operator will now walk the tool in to the cut for every tool that has been changed from the previous cycle.

With all parameter changes, please be aware of unintended consequences!
