T32 Tool offsetting for EIA/ISO

Hi,
I have a QT15N T32-2 for the past 6 years. I've never learned Mazatrol I programme it in EIA/ISO all the time. I've just bought another Mazak a SQT15MS T32-3. I intend to learn Mazatrol now in a while beacuse I've 2 Mazaks it makes sense. In the mean time I want to use the SQT the same way I use the QT. The problem I have is offsetting the tools. I never use the tool setting arm ! I set up the tools as follows on the QT. I'm using a Standard turning tool as an example setting up Tool 07 with offset 07. I call up T07. I face off the front of the part and make a note of what the machine possition is showing, say Z-300.0 .Then I go to "tool offsets" page. (I never use the "tool data" page) and type in Z-300.0 in offset 07. then I go back to the Possition Screen. Manually I turn the diameter of the part, take a small cut off it. Then I stop the chuck and without moving the x-axis I measure the diameter of the part, say it's 25mm. Then I add -25mm on to what the machine possition is showing, say X-375.0 and I get -400.0. I then go into the "tool offsets page and type in X-400.0 in offset 07. Now I have this tool set with offset 07 so I call up T0707 and it works fine. The problem is I can't do this on the SQT, when I put in an offset for a tool like T0707 it doesn't use this offset for some reason. It must be taking information from somwhere else, is there a parameter I need to change or something ?

Thanks in advance,
MB.

offsets

may need to check the format of the tool / offset combination. some are 6-digit, some are 4-digit. ie: T007007, T0707 etc. I have seen 8-digit as well.
examples should be in the programming manual that came with the machine.
Do yourself a BIG favor, and learn conversational Mazatrol. You will be able to program parts in 5 minutes that used to take 4 hrs. You will also have the benefit of full simulation so you can proof the toolpath before cutting any chips.
Hope this helps

Hi, Yeah it's 4-digit code
I think I found a parameter to change.

P12 (Bit 2) = 0
G50 Coordinate system selected initially.

P12 (Bit 2) = 1
Mazatrol coordinate system selected initally.

So it was at 1 and I changed it to 0. Working the way I want it now. I must try and do a course on Mazatrol !
