18 SQT-MY Mazatrol program shift

Hey guys tryin to get a mazatrol program to shift to create 4 parts from a slug and it makes the first 2 parts fine but when it started to profile the 3rd part it roughed then when it went to fininsh it plowed across the face of the part and didnt return to a Z point before goin to the center of the face. ive never used the shift portion of the mazatrol is there a parameter i need to adjust? because its got some strange X,Z start and stop points like when it drills on the 4th part it goes the the retract plane which is .1 above the face then backs out 1 inch before goin to the tool change pos.
forgot its a t-plus control

Please help otherwise ill need to make 4 programs

Thanks
JM

Talking RE Shift Amount

Hi,
Not sure if this is the same problem as yours, but I remember when we went from the Mazak T2 controller to the T-Plus controller. We always set the billet length in the first process line at 2" and it did not matter wheter we had a 2" long billet or a 6" long billet.

However on the T-Plus this did matter and caused similar problems to as you are describing. Ensuring the billet length was correct cured the problem.

Good Luck

So your saying that the billet length in the top of the program has to be the same as the shift amount?

Mazatrol

I believe that chippy is correct, mazatrol has gotten smarter over the years, and I think that even in a shift program the control needs to know how much machinable material exists. facing stock, machining stock ( including cutoff ) for each part in the shift.

Hope it helps

Program Shift

I am not saying the first process line has to be the same as the shift amount as this is incorrect, what I am saying is if you have 6" worth of material sticking out from the chuck then 6" is what the billet length should read in the first line, If you tell the Mazak that you only have 2" length billet and you have a shift amount of 1" you may find that you will make 2 parts no problem as this equals the 2" length, however when you go beyond 2" and start making the 3rd part you get the problem you described, IE tool rapid into billet etc...

Hope this cures your problem.

Mark.

ok i thought it was that cause i had 1" for the billet length then changed to 4" cause it was only goin to repeat a total of 4 times makeing 4 parts with a .75 shift so it would of had 1" left for room and it still did the same thing im not sayin the tool would rapid into the part initialy it would be in the middle of a canned cycle like doin the profile and go from roughing to finish with the same tool and not pull away from the part like it did on the other 2 parts before it and just rapid to X0,Z0. making a mess of the part. i mean is the shift not ment for making multiple parts just to shift a profile?

Thanks for the help so far too

JM

T Plus Bugs

The shift is used for multiple parts and works well.

However the T Plus control will do very strange things if you have altered the Layout and then made a change to the program.... NOTE THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!

Go to the Layout page and if you have any RED you need to select Program priority and then reset your layout.

You can look at the program and it will appear fine.
