Question o wise ones. The turret on this quick turn 20 will index all day in one direction manually or by running a program. I can clamp and unclamp all day. The problem I have is indexing in reverse direction , it will do a couple at a slower speed then eventually come to a stop. Think I should start by replacing the solenoid and see what happens ? Thanks from warm Buffalo NY. This is my first post so I hope I do it right. |

| yeah you could try the frw/rev solenoid first. but dont be suprised if you end up having to replace the gearmotor drive the operates the turret. that is the black gearbox unit that the solenoid is mounted to. i have replaced quite a few of those in the past. |

this problem may be cause of solenoid valve problem that is ccw or cw solenoid valve. you can change valve and if its problem you can open and clean the valve or you can check the turret cw and ccw relay on the ac relay board work or not. I think thats problem should cause turret ccw/cw valve best regards... hszengin |

Well I took off both solenoids and made the clamp/unclamp a cw/ccw and the cw/ccw into a clamp/unclamp.Hooked everything up turned machine on did a unclamp and the turret was spinning like a top.So I put everything back the way it was turned the machine on and it seems good to go.I ran 20 parts so we'll see how 2nd shift does.Could have been dirt maybe I blew it out with air.Hey if Santa's sled wobbles a little bit as long as he gets the presents to the right house that's what counts. Ha Ha Thanks for your help and advice have a nice holiday. |

| The black "gearbox" is a hydraulic motor with the clamp/unclamp integral to the hydraulic cirucit. If the problem persists, it may be internal wear in your hydraulic motor. Mazak wants like $6,000 for a replacement hydraulic motor. I believe a rebuild kit is available for $1,500 or so. If your machine continues to malfunction, it's worth a try to take the hydraulic motor apart, and inspect for wear. There is 2 plain ball bearings in the motor that, if bad, can be replaced to make the motor work like new again. Another trick is to install a hydraulic flow control valve in the hydraulic circuit feeding the motor and clamping. The flow control valve allows you to "slow down" the clamp/unclamp and rotate, thus minimizing heat, stress, and wear on your machine. Who cares if the machine takes .8 seconds to rotate from tool-to-tool instead of .2 seconds?? |
