Hi guys I just took delivery of a used SQT 15MS . I looked at the machine in a shop and it seemed to be working fine. Nice machine, everything worked just fine. So I organised some finance and bought it. It was a trade in against a new machine and I bought it from a machine dealer in the U.K. There's now some major spindle problem by the looks of it, I just can't understand how it was fine when I looked at it initially. It looks like they borrowed a spindle controller or whatever for my visit. I feel I'm after being shafted in a big way. I also called the company who were using it and the guy said "that's the problem with moving machines" . I'll call my finance company now i guess. Here's a copy of the mail I just sent to the dealer in the U.K. Let me know what you guys think I should do and if you know anything about the fault. "Hi *****, There is a serious fault with this machine. To do with the main spindle and the C-axis. Nither of them will work. When I tell the main spindle to spin at 1000 RPM's or any speed for that matter it stuggles to move at about 2 RPM's and the spindle load meter is very high on the screen. then after about 20 seconds it stops and "Alarm 32" comes up on screen. If I press the C-axis button "Alarm 30" comes up straight away. This Alarm is in the alarm list that is with the machine it says : "Signal A, B, or Z from the encoder connected to the RF31 or RF33 card is illegal. The detector mounted on the servo motor and the cable, or the servo amplifier are defective." It seems strange that the machine worked fine the day we inspected it at ****** Engineering and when it came down here it's useless. You've guaranteed it for a month so let me know A.S.A.P. if you're going to take it back or what you're going to do. Regards, M*** ******" |

| Are you sure it did not get damaged in transit? A Cable pinched? Also, are you using it on true 3 phase, or a RPC? If it is a Mazak T-32, these can be very expensive for spindle controller repair. Al.

| HI, Yeah the phases are in the right order. There's no hydraulic pressure when they're wrong way. The moving guys were very particular, I've used them before a few times and i saw it being moved. can't see any cable damaged. It's proper 3-phase i have. Yes it's T32-3 ! Dealer mailed me back said he spoke to his mazak guy and he thinks it's something simple like a plug has come loose ! I doubt it. Now have a new Alarm. "Alarm 028 Printed circuit board malfunction" Replace the control card (RF01) |

| Hello mbpp, You mention something about the seller borrowing a spindle controller. If indeed this is what they did, could just the spindle controller be out of phase instead of the whole machine, or the motor wired backwards? Thats the way mitsubishi's act when the motor leads are wired backwards. Really slow jerky rotation and full load on the meter and usually a singing or ringing whine sounds while running. Do the axis drive ok? Lee |
