QT10 hi/low shift mechansim

This QT10 (a long drawn out story of personal failure ) has a disk style high low. It uses a pneumatic piston to move the gear disk in and out. What is happening (I think) is that we are hearing a grind sometimes when in gear. The gear teeth are in good shape right now and I dont want them to get ruined. The shifter moves fine and it moves the double gear disk from hi to low. I think that the air selenoid is bleeding off pressure allowing the force on the piston to get weak then letting the gear disks to fall off each other. So my questions are

1. Does anyone have a mechanical breakdown of a 1986 QT10 hi/low mechanism?
2. Has anyone had a similar issue?

Ok so we reubild the air selenoid and now we are getting a pulsing back and forth of the spindle. I think that maybe the shaft is messed up and both pullies are trying to drive the spindle and that tells the encoder is doesnt have the right rpm.

Man I wish some guys with older QT10s would chime in on this website
