We have a an Old mazak QT10 that we acquired with a t2 controller. We are learning the mazak language and that seems to be doing well. We are working on a program to drill a hole but the drill keeps coming out offset apparently by half the width of the drill bit. I can't seem to find where to change this. I can change the direction it is offset by touching off on the top or the bottom. I know this is porblably simple but can anyone help me out here. I can't seem to find it in the book. Scott |

| Yes, the retract amount defaults are set in the parameters, atleast on my M32. You should be able to find a list of your parameters online. I'm not familiar with mazatrol so I can't speculate as to what the problem may be with your program. Just sounds like a parameter too me. |

| Thanks for the help. We are just compensating for it in the tool offset table. I guess I just assumed that if I set the tool up as a drill then the offset for the x axis would have been preset to the correct zero. Apparently not. Scott |

| Scott- If all your trying to do is set the tool to X0, go to the tool data page 1, select the tool# X position then use the increment button and then add/subtract the distance offset to bring it back to X0. Also, on tool data 2, insure that the correct drill diameter is listed. Hope this helps. |

| Sounds like the machine things youre drill are an internal turning tool, that exact thing happens when this is wrong in the tooldata 2 Also have you set the standard value for the drill holder? On my Mazak SQT18MS Mark IIthe standard ofset for drill/internal turning holder are -320mm You should check both theese things, hope this helps. On tool data 2 its the first thing you choose in the toll line for the toll you are setting the data for. |

| Ah, just too mention it, if you only change the diameter of the drill to the current diameter of the drill, but dont change the tool type to a drill, the machine thinks the drill size are the actual nose radius of the turning tool, therefore the tool gets out of center by about half its size |

do not set the x axis with the tool eye on drills only. it does not matter what size drill you use the x distance is always the same for example my mazak sqt 8 is 170mm this is the fixed distane from home to the centerline of the chuck. hope this helps |

| I ran a QT-10 for years. If the tool is not coming down to X center it is because of one fo two things: 1)The tool is not defined correctly 2)The X-offset is not correct (-10.5") Any center cutting tool should be -10.5 if your home position is correct. If it is not, let me know and I will give you the parameter to fix it. To check to see if it is correct, put an indicator in the chuck and indicate one of the #2 holders on center. The machine postion should read -10.5 or very close to it. If it does not, let me know. Also, what is the X-value when the machine is drilling without your offset in? |
