Mazatrol CAM T4 communication

This shop just got a used Slant 30 w/Mazatrol T4 controller. We do not even have it hooked up to power yet, so no way to test anything at this point.

Looking at the control I find a single DB25-F connector, with a graphic symbol that looks like it means a tape reader - a rectangle with (inside) two dots, inward up-pointing lines, with a horizontal line connecting the vertical lines.

This shop does only straight G-code file creation, and we will need to upload/save these G-code files, using a laptop w/serial port communication program.

We have another Mazatrol CAM M2, that has two DB25-F ports, and we use (I believe, but am not sure) the one that has a picture of a piece of punched paper tape above it, not the one with the graphic like described for the new T4 control.

So, will we be able to send/receive G-code files to this new control?

I looked at the controller in back, and it has the following cards installed: FX61(2), FX62(1), FX701, FX784-8, FX727, FX784-9, FX702, FX715, FX53(1), and FX763.

Cheers,
Steve

Smile T-4

The port you are describing is the CMT port for Mazatrol transfer. I have never seen a T-4 with EIA option so I don't know if it is an option or not. Some controls have only one port and use that to transfer both Mazatrol and EIA code. The Tape port symbol looks like a piece of paper tape with an S shape in it. Good luck with it.

EIA option for T4

I also got a response back from Mitsubishi about EIA/ISO option, and they indicated that it was an option which required an FX17 board (which I do not have).

Thanks for the input.

Steve
