    M2 going brain dead?

    Hello,
New to the forum, looks like some good people & good stuff going on!
We have a Mazak SV25E with CAM M-2 control, 1986.
We were having problems with the EIA programs in the bubble memory (not uploading complete program or garbled, editing would cause some of program to disappear), but figured out we were not using Condense correctly. After using Condense correctly, ran fine for a few days.
Then we started having problems with the Mazatrol programs:
    tool page disappear
    can't delete program
Error 300-System Error (Limited CPU capacity)
    Error 408-Program Error (Info destroyed)

    Anybody run into this before?
I don't know if the control is dying (need to replace some boards?), or if it can be cleared out and brought back up?

Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi,

Well I can't be of much help concerning a fix but I too have had a few issues with garbled program when trying to edit. Sometime I will get extra blocks at the end of my program that I don't want or simply won't work. When I attempt to delete these the control acts like it will lock up for 10 or so seconds and then it will dump all my tool data and offset pages. The tool file page however will stay intact. Sometimes I have to completely delete the program and resend. Make sure the % is at tht end of the program and is directly after the M30, ex.

    M30
    %

Sometimes my CAM software will put a blank line between the 2 and I think this causes problems.

    Hope this helps.

hello. it sounds like you do not have the extended memory option. you may have too much stored in you program file. this will cause this problem. mazak does offer an extended memory but you will have to get it directly from mazak. if you dont think that you have to many programs stored then there is a way to re-initialize the control. i have done this many times but it is always a last resort. you will need to be sure that you have all of your parameters and programs backed up because all will be lost during this process. i am a service engineer with a company that contracts service to mazak directly. i work on mazak machines daily and can get you the step by step process to re-initialize your control. i will send it to you via e-mail if you like. my e-mail is: bigbobomb@yahoo.com so let me know. good luck. bob
