    QT8/T32B Control

O.K. everybody I'm a little confused. I am trying to use the groove function with a chamfer. It looks great on the shape check. When I run the part the groove tool cuts the part clean off before it does the chamfer . I have tried this several ways with no sucess. Am I doing something wrong or is this a cruel joke? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you trying to chamfer the end of part at the cutoff (Groove #4)??, or trying to put an OD groove?
Without knowing, I assume you are cutting off. Check your nose radius for the cutoff tool, it's possible with a small chamfer less that the nose radius of the cutoff the tool makes the correct motions but doesn't actually remove material. Normally when cutting off with a chamfer, the tool plunges just past the amount of the chamfer then retracts in x, moves over machines the chamfer and continues towards centerline to cutoff part.
I think there is also a parameter related to how much the tool plunges initially into the work past the chamfer, but I'll have to double check.

    QT8 Chamfer option

Sorry about that! I should have been more clear. Yes, I am trying option 4 chamfer/cutoff. I program it the way I think is correct. I watch the machine run and it cuts the part off and then moves to put on the chamfer. I have a zero tool nose radius set on the tool. I have tried to limit the depth of cut on the program for giggles and it does not change anything. I am starting to belive its a parameter thing but I don't know where to start looking.
