    fusion 640m rs232 comm

    Hi all

    I'm having comm problems with a VTC200C with the fusion 640M using multi-dnc transfer program.

    I have excellent communication both ways in TAPE I/O for EIA but I can only get data out of the machine on the CMT side. I'm trying to get it to work so I can back up old mazatrol programs onto the network and then retreive them later as needed. When you try to send the mazatrol program back to the control, it gives the CMT Misconnected error.

    Talked to mazak and they said to try yet another cable configuration that they say is the "right" cable for the fusion.

    The current cable that works for everything else is wired like this:
    DB25 Host DB25 Mazatrol
    2<-------------->3
    3<-------------->2
    7<-------------->7
    4,5jumped.....|.....5,6,8,20 jumped
    6,8,20jumped

    The cable mazak told me to try is lik this:
    2<-------------->3
    3<-------------->2
    7<-------------->7
    4,5jumped.....|.....4,5 jumped
    6,20jumped....|....6,20 jumped

    I won't have access to this machine until tuesday so I wanted to try to get an opinion...why would everything else work but not CMT to NC??

    Also, does anyone know what the extended parameters IDD 1-16 are?? They're in the same table as DPR 1-16 but the book doesn't tell what the DPR params control and it gives nothing about the IDD params at all.

    It's been a long time since i've looked at an RS232 cable.
    I'd call mitsubishi.
    I have found their answers concerning the electronics side of the machine to be more reliable and correct.

    You may want to check the FIFO buffers on your computer. They should be off or as low as possible. I have had CMT misconnect errors when the FIFO was set high.
    Right click on my computer
    pick properties
    click hardware
    go to device manager
    find port
    double click on the port you have your DNC cable plugged in
    go to port setting > advanced
    Set the FIFO low(1) - all the way to the left

    The current cable that works for everything else is wired like this:
    DB25 Host DB25 Mazatrol
    2<-------------->3
    3<-------------->2
    7<-------------->7
    4,5jumped.....|.....5,6,8,20 jumped
    6,8,20jumped

    I use the following cable, but the cable configuration depends on whether your software is set up to use a hardware or software control cable. This configuration is software:
    2<-------------->3
    3<-------------->2
    7<-------------->7
    no jumper.....|.....4,5 jumped
    no jumper....|....6,8,20 jumped

    Hardware flow is:
    2<-------------->3
    3<-------------->2
    4<-------------->5
    5<-------------->4
    7<-------------->7
    no jumper.....|.....4,5 jumped
    no jumper....|....6,8,20 jumped

    you should not have to set any parameters on the Mazak beyond the baud rate for Mazatrol communication.
