Has anyone tried this canned cycle to do thread milling? I'm just curious because it asks for pitch one which looks like a chamfer at the beginning of the hole and pitch 2 which is in the actual hole you are wanting to thread mill. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!!!! |

Here Is What I Understand About The Tornado. As Of Yet I Have Not Used It For Thread Milling. But I Have Used It Milling You Will Lose The Last Thread. Because It Makes One Arc Around The Bottom Before Pulling Out. From What I Seen Using Tornado Milling Cycle.it Should Be The Same. It Would Be Best To Start At Least .100 Above Cutting Point Due To Rapid Move.(starts At Center Od Bore And Rapids Out And Arc Into Cut) And Thread At Least One Thread Deeper Than Required.for The Arc Out At End Of Cyclce. Watch Out Off Clearance. I Will Try It Tonight! Try A Couple Diferent Cases Tonight. |

I think you must call surface finish as "0", which is NOT A SOFTKEY! This forces all motion to be helical, even the pull out. any number other than "0" results in a 360 sweep at the bottom with Z axis fixed. Jim |
