Eia Tool Hieght Offset On Nexus 640

Is There An Easy Way To Set Tool Height On A Mazak 410a Mill
When Using A G Code Program. I Am Used To Just Putting The
Tool In The Spindle And Touching The Tool Off The Top Of
The Work Piece Then Setting The Tool Height Based On The
Machines Distance From Home Position In Z Axis (always Is A
Negitive Number). This Machine Does Not Work This Way??..

Well, ... it will but I don't know why you'd want to. Whats not working for you? Mazaks (as well as many machine tools nowadays) are on the concept that most people are using positve offsetting and not the old style minus setting. Do you have the tool measure unit on the machine? It will already be set for positive offsetting. Positive offsetting is based upon the spindle gage line being at the workface zero, then offsettin the tool length in positive. This also has many other benefits.....

But, I would think you can still set all your tools that way (on the part). Come to think of it though... I've never actually tried on a mazak... at least not on one with a mazak control. There could be some weird parameter thing on the G43 when using negative offsets... have to look...
It's just a part..... cutter still goes round and round....
