Try it and you'll see it... But anyway, it's a ".pbe" file for the US. Different languages have a different end character which is why it's ".pbf" in France. ".psb" is a Fusion file (if I remember right)...

Either way, you can't read it if you did open it. You need software to read Mazatrol on a PC... MazaCam, MatrixCam, Camware, Griffo Bros., .. etc.

But, if you output the program with the control screen button "TEXT FORMAT" highlighted, it outputs as Mazatrol G code and you can read that on any text editor like G-code editors, Notepad, Wordpad, MS Word, etc, etc, etc... The code format is called 3 Digit G code and you can decipher it by looking it up in the Mazazatrol Programming book under "3 Digit G Format"....

program print out trick

If you have Fusion or Matrix, you can go to the windows task bar and pull down the windows print dialogs.

set up a generic ascii text printer as the default.

commence the print command with PRINT TO FILE checked.

it will allow you to set up a path to either FDD if fusion, or usb if matrix.

you need to fiddle with the paper size i think A4 in landscape can 'catch' all the print outs.

this will give you a man readable text file of your program in native mazatrol 'appearance'. it leaves out a few mazatrol only characters - like the diamonds and maybe one or two other characters that are mazatrol only.

However, especially on the fusion you have to do this sequence again, OR ELSE the program you just copied will go into oblivion forever if you dont "remap" the path back to the default standard program directory MC_ machine programs or similar. Practice with a dummy program until you get the hang of it. I dont want anybody out there losing their programs because of bad internet advice and it is very easy to do!

this technique is taking advantage of windows features just to get a hard copy of your mazatrol.

native mazatrol can only be "read" on a pc by mazak specific programs - camware, matrixcam, griffo, mazacam.*

FYI

* could be worse. pre-windows mazatrol program files aren't even IBM compatible! Thankfully, I missed the days of the CMT box with the magnetic tape!

psychomill - good point about the different languages. I did not know that!

*.pbe, *.pbf for e type and integrex native mazatrol. *.pae, *paf for 'text output' for aforementioned machines.

*pbd for native mazatrol; variaxis, *.pad for 'text output' version of the same.

at least here in the States. Your language may vary!
