1st make sure the settings on both the pc and the controller are correct and that your baud isn't too high. Second check the pins on the cable to make sure they're wired correctly.

Also, do a search on the forum as this has been covered a few times and you might find something in the old posts.

What version of the editor are you running?
You say you re able to get a program in to the laptop from the control correct?

So you have checked all the settings?

Make sure the first chacter is a % and one at the end.
Ok this is our older editor.

My communication program has the option to test the outgoing file for the % and send it before it sends the program...

For some other options, look here . Or do a search for serial or comm* and stuff like that.

    hi fjd
the first thing you need to do is go into mod functions and look
if option is set to fe if it is that is the problem
fe protacal is the setting heidenhain use for there software ie:
tnc remo and will allow it to blockwise transfer but it allows to send files from the controller to a pc but you cannot send back
    so go into mod functions
and change your setting from fe to ext1
then try again this should cure your problem
    best regards
    peter

    hi fjd
also if this does not work which i think it will
remember in your file you recieved from your m/c to your laptop
and you said there was funny characters at the begining and at the end cut them out and paste to program you are trying to send
but i think these are what tnc outputs for the fe protocol
    best regards
    peter

FJD, why don't you use TNCServer or TNCRemo for the transmission to the TNC. It is available from the Heidenhain website free of charge (just download it), choose your controller and baud rate and no more settings are required. The latest version of TNC server also handles remote request.
