I have a kitamura mycenter 3 with a fanuc 11m control on it.. and I'm having a little trouble with the communications.. when i go to send a program to the control and hit read all or this I get this alarm "SR 820 DR off (1)" ..I have the book but it doesn't tell me what to do. It explains it as "Data set ready signal of reader/puncher interface 1 turned off." Anyone know how I would turn it on I would assume this would correct my problem.. Thanks, Chuy |

Your cable is not wired correctly.. on the machine end of the cable Jumper pins 4 & 5 together Jumper pins 6,8, & 20 together That should fix your problem. Chris |

No. All you have to do is take the cover off the 25-pin connector on the end of your cable. The Fanuc end of the cable needs that 6-8-20 jumper. The Fanuc must see a positive voltage on pin 6 (DR) and pin 8 (CD) or you will get an alarm. Pin 20 is the Data Terminal Ready (DTR) output, so the Fanuc will put a positive voltage on that pin. You're just using pin 20 to hold pins 6 and 8 high. If your CNCs serial port is damaged, this 6-8-20 jumper may not do the trick. In that case you can tie pins 6 and 8 to any pin that's "Hi" on the PC side, like pin 4 (if your PC has a 9-pin plug). Thats the DTR signal from the PC. |

OK fellas I just wanted to update everyone on my situation...after all the code inputting by hand and all the crap... as it turns out it was a combination of a few things. The mastercam communcations software doesnt work on the older fanuc controls,so i got the software from cadnet works great!, also needed the null modem and last but not least the previous owner had it hardwired in and he disconnected the CD1 from the mother board so it wasn't reading the rs232 port. Thanks, Chuy |
