HI!
I have Mitsubishi HF-SP352B servo motor, with broken encoder.
I want to replace the encoder ( encoder name is OSA-18 0eyw3t )
I found at ebay OSA-18 , but the following letters different ( not eyw3t)
how I choose the right encoder ?

OSA-18 should be the same encoder.

I called to my country Mits dealers - they said " we have new OSA-18 at stock, but we have to programm this encoder for 300 usd" - they lie ?

If it came off the same motor it should work, I know they always mention 'programming the encoder for the motor' but I have never found out what that meant?

Programming means they are setting the motor size data in the encoder. Its not really programming, more like setting parameter data.
It is normally MRJ series servos system that require this setting not MDS to my knowledge.
The motor size data is set in the encoder because the motor/encoder are normally sold as a item.
The contoller / parameter data / motor-encoder combination can be therefore be varified for the correct combination at startup.

I found a suitable series of encoder (OSA-18)
the seller does not know from what motor
program "motor size" - what the programmer needs,how to do it?
do without this motor will not work?
