Mazak M2 control communication problems

Hi guys,

I have a client with a M2 control that I've been trying to get communicating with a PC loaded initially with SDcomms(V7), but have now moved on to trying to get communication going between the control and NC-link.

The control does not communicate with the PC a all using SDcomms, even when the parameters have been checked thoroughly. The PC is loaded with windows 7, and i fear that NC-link may not be compatible with this version of windows.

When using NC-link i am able to receive from the machine, my problem though is that the program sent is not what is coming through. When sending in Mazatrol there is only one character received, a black dot, when sending in ISO i get two character, a q and a backward L.

The parameters on the machine match the ones in NC-link,
Baud rate 4800, data bits 7, stop bits 2, handshaking XON/XOFF

If anyone has had this problem before with receiving only these characters instead of the whole program, i would very much appreciate any help or advise.

Thanks very much

Describe the pin out of the cable you're using, and are you using Parity in your configuration? Generally, with 7 and 2, even parity will be used.

Regards,

Bill

Try slowing the baud rate down to 2400.

I was communicating with M2 through a PC with Windows XP, But to communicate with the Mazatrol side of the computer I had to purchase software that was able to comunicate with the mazatrol software. However on the EIA/ISO side of the Mazak memory I had to use a different cable and comunicated using a common hyperlink in assecessarys in my personal computer. The doen't drip feed correctly but usually transfers EIA programs correctly.
