Hello all, we have an 89 mazak v-15 n with m2. The problem I'm having is when we try to manually jog different axis. With the switch on x axis I can move it perfectly. However, if I try to select Y or Z axis I get no movement or anything. Any ideas? Is it the switch possibly causing this? If so how would I check it. And why would one axis work but no others? |

Is it a remote mpg? Might be the cable that has to be replaced, could also be some soldering (if soldering is used) are broken. Check if all wires that are supposed to be connected on a pin are. Might also be a switch problem, although I haven't really seen this type of issue with rotary switches, this tends to happen more to pushbuttons. Cheers. |

| Thanks for reply. I forgot to mention that, it is not a remote pendant. This one is mounted to the side of the operators controls. There are no obvious solder issues with the back of the switch. My wiring diagram book is basically useless for this problem, it doesn't give any kind of breakdown of the wiring for this switch. |

| Check your diagnostic or your ladder monitoring to see what happens when you make selection of X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis. This is just to make sure that it is really the connection of your switch that somehow does not reach your plc. Also, while you don't have your wiring diagram, note that your rotary switch is either connected to have each axis its own PLC address or connected in order to be "binary", it becomes obvious when you check the ladder. Cheers. |

| Thanks for all the advice, but my knowledge is pretty limited when working on these how would I go about accessing the diagnostics? I do see a soft key for diagnostics but when I bring it up nothing happens on that screen is there a code I need to put in to bring up whatever I should check? Also I did find out that the switch and the mpg are good. We have another machine like this one, and I had a chance early this morning to put this switch and mpg in and it works perfect. It may be a while before I can check anything else with the machine on, due to a bad M/T control board I will have to repair or replace. |

| Oh well, boss decided $1400 to repair the m/t controller was too much to spend right now. So this poor machine has probably seen the last of its milling days. She's got it in her mind that it will just be used to rob parts off of now. Its a shame to see, but oh well I don't make the calls. |
