Assuming your ladder is correctly programmed, the solution should be a parameter that tells you which gear you are on at a given speed bracket. Check your params manual. Cheers.
1990 Mazak m4 I am trying to turn a very large diameter part on my m4. I cannot get the geared head to stay in first or second gear. I can change it from 3 to 2 or 1 in manual mode but as soon as I try to run in auto mode it changes back to 3. This part is 13" in diameter so i really need low gear. I tried an m code to shift into a low gear in the program but it still goes back to 3 before starting the spindle. I also tried a manual program if that makes any sense, where it allows you to select the gear but when i hit cycle start in auto, no matter what It shifts back to third gear. I also set the max rpm for the program down to 200 with same result. Please help.
I find nothing in the manuals and mazak tech. support told me to unplug the solenoid to keep it in low gear, there has to be a simple solution to this.
Again Please Help.

Thanks for the reply, Ive read through all manuals that I have for it but don't find anything on parameters. I will keep searching. Thanks
I know that for both M500 and M700, it is the slimit1,2,3,4 and smax1,2,3,4 params in your spindle parameters. Check the spindle parameter menu (not the SP###, the other spindle parameter menu). Cheers.
