Need help with Mazak VTC-16B tool length/toolchanger

A friend of mine just bought this machine. It has the M Plus control

I've been slowly working out the bugs...but Mazak hasn't been vey helpful and we have no operator's manual for the machine, just for the M-Plus.

I have the machine up and running, but outside of a coolant leak from under the middle of the machine, I have several other questions/problems

1) The tool length measuring device isn't working

2) The toolchanger will not extend manually, but the machine will do a tool change, although I've seen a lot cleaner execution...lol I need to tweak the parameters for Home 2 so thxtend , so that the spindle and carousel aren't smacking each other around.

Can someone describe the correct procedure to get the toolcahnger to extend, so that I can load the carousel (after fixing all the broken springs amd damaged alignment plates.

Also, the correct procedure to check tool lengths?

I'm trying to figure out if the problem is with me or the machine....(probably a bit of both!!)

thx

1 of 2 problems solved

Ok...quick update

Mazak told me that in order to get the toolchanger to extend/retract manually using soft keys, that the machine needed to be at home 2 (toolchange position) and then to jog the z axis out of the way.

That didn'tork, but what did is to move the Y axis back to home 1

So the problem was between the seat and the steering wheel...

ANy thoughts on how to get the measuring device working?

thx
