How do find out if my Mazatrol 640m Nexus Vertical has the Synchronous tapping option? It is parameter F79. I have changed the parameter to Synch and Asynch and they both appear to do the same cycle. I want to be able to repeat the tapping cycle so I can have the machine do the work. I have tried running thru the cycle and it ended up cross threading... |

You MIGHT be able to cheat it a bit, using your M19 (spindle orientation) and just make sure your Z approach values are the same as your retract value for your tapping cycle... Aslong as your spindle is oriented properly and machine repeats itself as far as Z values go, you might be able to get away with it. be worth a shot with a 1/4-20 in a block of Alum... are you peck tapping or just tapping different holes but want them to all start the same...? |

| For US machines, synchronous tapping is standard. For overseas machines, synchronous tapping is a paid option. F79 changes the way G84 works. If you change this, you will cross thread because one is synched and the other setting is not. Just use G84.2 instead which is always synced and don't worry about it anymore.... check it in a test block if you like.... Also, you still need to follow the basic rules. for example, if you change anything related to the Z start point (i.e.: tool length, R plane, work offset, etc), then this will also cross thread your holes.

| If you confirmed that synch tap is on then you may have to change parameter SP193 bit E. If you don't know how to do this (convert hex to binary and binary to hex) then let me know what parameter SP193 is and I can tell you what to change it to. |
