Hello Everyone, I'm programming in Mazatrol (T32-3) and it's a very simple part, basically just an internally threaded insert. I have a Q(.332") drill bit in a live tooling holder and I'm using it to simply drill through the centerline of the part. The issue I'm running into is that the bit will start to drill, catch on a chip and begin to rotate with the spindle. The collet is plenty tight, it's just the live tooling holder is turning with the main spindle. I tried using an M211 to lock the C-axis but that froze the program as soon as it got to that line of code. Is there a way to lock the C-Axis spindle or should I just be using a rigid (non-live tooling) holder? Thanks, Dan |

| There is an M code to lock the c axis. However, it is bad machining practice to machine on the Centerline of a C axis with live tooling unless you are rotating the C axis and the live tooling. Mazatrol does not offer a unit allowing both the c axis and live tooling to be rotated at the same time. You would need to program in an EIA format or Manual unit. I would simply call the tool a T-drill and do not use live tooling. |
