Gents,
I am having trouble with a new to me 640m. I will be programming in EIA, and will not be using the mazatrol side of the controller. When I try to teach in the tool offset page it gives me a positve number.
Lets say I have the machine at Z 0 in machine position, and I wanted to set an offset there. If I went into the tool offset page, hit teach, it asks me for the distance from tool tip to the table, if I type in 0, it puts a length offset of positive 69." IF I tell it distance from tool to table is 1., it puts in a lenght offset of 68."
For some reason, the teach function always add +69." to the lenght offset.
What am I missing? If type in the actual machine position, everything works great. Can I calibrate the the "teach" somehow?
Thanks in advance,
Steve
Mazatrol calculates tool length based on a parameters. Tool length is the distance from the spindle nose to the table at home position, less the distance from the tool tip to the table at home position. This will be a positive number. The WPC, or in your case work shift, is the distance from the spindle nose to Z zero of your part. This will be a negative number. This is assuming you have a vertical mill. Post more if this does not help.
