Exclamation SL 50 turret out in X-axis

I have a Mazak SL50 that they crashed so hard they knocked the turret out in the X-axis plane. We adjusted the turret rotation on center but when you sweep the face of the turret it is out .015 on one side. I know on a Mori there is push pull blocks to adjust this. There is no blocks and I need to move it more than the bolt hole will allow. What can I do adjust gib ????

are you absolutley sure the turret isn't bolted to the carriage ?

Because usually you have to get the turret square to the X/Z axis before adjusting to spindle center line. There could be some taper pins in the turret disk and/ or body and they could be bent, check and replace with straight ones, but always remove the turret disk ones again after tightening, or you may have an even harder collision next time if the disk cant move during a bump.

Also, you may not get the disk off if you need to with bent pins.

Yes the Turret is bolted to the carriage. There are two pins in it. When we take them out (the pins) we only get about .008-.010 movement. I need .015 so we need .005 more. This is why we thought of turning down the bolts.

If the x axis is a slant bed, you may need to lift the turret body a little to get enough movement. But, if things have been strained you may need to adjust the bolts or open up the bolt holes one by one to get the adjustment. when you have corrected it in X/ Z and disk (radially) to the spindle, lock it up and ream the pin holes to fit new "oversized" pins.

If it's like our big Mazak, it's on linear guides. You may have shoved the whole thing on the guide packs.

I aligne the turret today. It was out .015 in x-axis to the spindle (running an indicator on the face of the turret. loosen the 8 M14 bolts and removed the taper pin. hooked up the 2T crain on the turret and pulled. It came in within +.0003 no problem.

    Thanks for all the help.
