As soon as I turn on the mill, and the hydraulic pump begins working, an alarm comes up that reads "Magazine Driver Malf. 212". We cannot get the magazine to move at all. Not even with the manual controls. We just got this mill from an auction, so we don't realy know if the machine is fully functional. The controlls on the machine are Mazatrol M-32 if that helps any. All help is greatly appreciated. |

Alarm 212 is sort of a generic Mazak alarm. It is telling you to go look at the magazine drive unit and see what the problem really is. On a M-32 control I have seen both Yaskawa drive units and Mazak Justpoint drive units. Each one is different in how it displays alarms. Could be just led's or a seven segment display. It should be located in your electrical cabinet with the other servo drives, but it will look completely different. If we knew what model of machine you have it would help a lot. It might be that you just need to zero return the magazine. On some machines there is a magazine/atc zero return toggle switch in the electrical cabinet. Flip the switch and call up tool #1. On other machines it is a m-code, M-68 that is needed. Again all info you can provide will help. How many tools in mag? Is it CAT 40? Can you determine what type of magazine driver you have? |

| On a FJV we've got here you have to zero the ATC before the machine will run. The alarm, if you don't zero the changer, says something along the lines of "Magazine return search unfinished" though. That machine does have a M+ controller though, but it's also the only mill that we have that requires you to zero the changer. (We have an identical FJV that doesn't, go figure!) Either way, to zero the changer on a M+ you just press the machine button, then the ATC soft key, and then the "mag zero return" soft key. I guess it's worth a shot! |
