I'm considering replacing the monitor in an old M2 mill with a LCD monitor, from what I've read the old monitor uses RGBHV but most LCD monitors use VGA or DVI. There are RGBHV to VGA and RGB to DVI adaptors but some searching on the forum here led me to some results that mentioned something about the refresh rates not matching up. Does anyone have any more info on what exactly the Mazak M2 controller is using as far as input to the monitor? I know there are companies out there that sell replacement CRT monitors but frankly the prices are absolutely ridiculous for what they are. (supply and demand I guess?) Thanks! |

Hi, The RGBHV = VGA. The signal cable is a 15 pin DIN connector, google the pin outs. I suggest to go to walmart and buy a GPX 13 inch hdtv monitor for $100.( model number TE1380B ) I use this tv to go to service machines. It has versatile inputs and in VGA mode I think would fit your needs. Good luck, it is worth to try. Let me know

From what I've read the horizontal sync refresh rate on the Mazak won't match what most VGA LCD monitors use so you have to use some sort of converter box... At least that's what I've read. If that TV is only 100 bucks I might just give it a shot just for fun. Thanks!

If that's the case try this circuit Video Converters - CGA/EGA/YUV to VGA Arcade HD-Converter PCB (GBS-8220) - JAMMABOARDS.COM - JAMMA Coin-Op Arcade Game Parts - CGA/EGA/YUV to VGA Arcade Converter PCB (GBS-8220) If this can't handle it nothing will ! Joe

The horizontal synch rate is only about 14 on the Mazak. Most modern screens don`t come much below 28. I have successfully used these 12.1" screens to replace M2/T2 monitors.Just need to change the plug and it goes straight in. 12.1 Inch CGA EGA VGA to SVGA LCD Panel
