I know the perfect thing to accompany this man's trumpet. None other than the mighty and majestic Albert Hall Pipe Organ.

Sorry. Wrong subject.

I experimented with this capability at length while I was at Mazak and it's an interesting legacy issue. From my highly scientific lab type of study, I found there is no discernable difference WHAT SO EVER in tool change time between a "normal" tool and a "heavy" tool, so I think this DOES NOT WORK on a 510C.

I climbed up and messed with a hyd circuit that drives the TC and found that if you mess with it, it heats up and e-stops the machine.

For the 510C, anyway, I suspect the heavy tool capability is there only because it's a legacy kind of thing, and it probably only works on certain specific machines, that would probably use 30 to 50 pound CAT-50 type tools.

You can slow down the whole TC event globally with the hyd circuit I messed with, but not much, and I think the two speed tool change capability (heavy=slow, normal=fast)does not even exist on this particular machine model.

Thanks I kind of figured it was something machine specific considering we have some newer model horizontal mills that the heavy id code works with slowing the atc down and im doing the same thing.
