Mazak H-500/40 RS-232 communication question | | I'm the IT guy trying to move from 1 computer with DNC software and several serial switches to several computers with DNC software with virtual COM ports and CNC machines connected to Lantronix UDS1100 device servers. All but the Mazak machines are working with a more generic cable pinout. We got one of the Mazak's (HTC 400) working by copying the pinouts of the existing cable. Tried this for the H-500/40 with Mazatrol M-32, but still cannot get it to connect. Here's the original cable config from direct serial connection: Code: H-500/40N

Note: Also tried cable from HTC 400 which is the same except the
jumpers from 5, 6, 9, and 20 on machine side are connected to jumpers
on 6, 8, and 20 on computer side Now, when the new cable was made, pins 2 and 3 were crossed because the Lantronix device is a DCE device, like I believe the machine to be. When it is tested like this, we get a miswired message. When we add a null modem adapter to uncross pins 2 and 3, nothing happens. Any suggestions on what to try next? Since everything works when we connect it back the old way, I believe the problem is all in the cabling.
Serial settings on Lantronix (obtained from DNC software for existing connectionn):
Protocol: RS232
Flow Control: None
Baud Rate: 9600
Data Bits: 7
Parity: Even
Stop Bits: 2 |
