On one of the Mazak Nexus 250 machines i have with a barfeeder. When i need to change the chucking direction i first have to chane parameter R49 in the machine parameter section, change the chuck direction on the machine, then change the parameter back to what the value was. Have not needed to do this very often. The problem i have is someone has changed this parameter and i now do not know what the value should be, and what i need to change it to, to change chuck direction. Anyone help please. |

| I suspect the chucking direction can be controlled with the machine menu softkeys - the first hard key with the wrench on it should get you there. may have to use the rightmost menu key to get to these softkeys. you have to switch off machine menu to get back to your normal set of softkeys. I presume you mean switching from internal chucking vs. external chucking? -jim |

| Press the "machine" button. Next you should see a series of items shown. One will say "chuck". Press this and you will see chuck ext' and chuck int' Highlight the one you require and then open and close the chuck with the foot pedal until the icon stops flashing. Now your ready to go. Any problems let me know. |

| Thanks for the replies. The main issue was that when i pressed the icon to chuck from ext to int or vice versa, the icon would keep flashing, so the change is chucking direction was never completed. I have solved the issue, but for anyone else who gets the same issue. There is a plc parameter R49. Bit 0 of this parameter determines whether or not to enable the sensors at the rear of the spindle. Changing this bit to a 1, then going through the sequence of changing direction works great. I also had to change this bit back to 0 before i could run the machine with the new chucking direction, I think this is something to do with also having a bar feeder on the machine. |
