I have a QT8 with a T-2 Controller. I had to reinstall the parameters and now i cannot get the tool setter to work. I have entered in the parameters just as in the book that came with the machine, and i have called mazak for help. Is there anyone that might know what I am doing wrong? |

no it does not do anything. i have talked to tech support for mazak and one guy tells me that OP5 should be 0000 1000, which is what my books says. another tech says OP5 should be 0000 0100, when i type this one in i can manually push the setter down and sensors beep if i touch them but it will not put any numbers in the tool file. when i put the first number in, i cannot push the setter down. it worked fine until i had to reinitialize the controller due to an dead battery. | OP 2 Bit 3 has to do with the tool measuring arm brake. If 0, tool eye brake is valid. If 1 = tool eye brake invalid. I think this means 0 if tool eye uses a brake and set to 1 if it doesn't. Try it both ways. OP5 Bit 2 has to do with Rapid Mode and Zero Return Mode being enabled with the tool eye effective. Standard setting is set to 0 so you can't rapid into the tool eye. If it is set to a 1 you can rapid and zero return mode with the tool arm down and the tool eye on or effective. This is not normal. Think about it. When measuring tools before, could you rapid up to the tool eye or did you have to handle it up close first then feed in? These are the only two Option params that I can find that are associated with the tool eye. But my list is not complete. They are listed with explainations in the very first few pages in the front of your electrical manual around the M-Codes and User param listings. |

Leelund, Thanks for the info. I just checked my machine and these are the parameters: OP2 0000 0001. OP5 0000 1000. When I changed the OP2 Bit 3 to 1, I got a 244 Tail Spindle LS Malfunction alarm. Am I reading the bits correctly? I entered OP2 0000 0101 and also tried 0000 0100. Is the hidden bit counted also? |

| 7654 3210 ? l l l l l l l l l 0000 0101 2 and the last digit=No. of 1's in the line. the above is OP2 also mamifrank is correct OP12 bit 0 needs turned on or to a 1 Hope this answers your question. Your machine electrics should have the ladder diagram in the back they would help you out also. |
