Mastercam 9 on Windows 7??

So it seems Version 9 is iffy at best on Vista...but how about Windows 7? Is anybody running Mastercam 9 on the new Windows yet? A few of my computer geek buddies say the new virtual mode for running earlier versions of windows is really good and far better then any options Vista had. Any input?

I ran X4 beautifully on Win7, but had serious graphics problems with ver9.1 , haven't figured out what the issue is yet.

The platform was a new $600 Gateway laptop.

My question is why are you trying to run such old software on the new windows. it will not perform any were near what it should if you get to run in the first place. move to X4 or X5 and get better options and performance.

why i use mastercam 9

:PYea off course their are a lot of other programs to choose from, but their are also a lot of maufacturing companies that use mastercam 9. Sort of like a place like the Silicon Vally. Where there are hundreds of these companies. That's why college courses for mastercam9 are still available. Thats why I use it, the company I work for uses mastercam 9.

It's easy to say just upgrade when you are on a dealer license or an almost free educational license. Its a hard pill to swallow for the little respect and service you get from Mastercam if you have to pay full blast for it.

Better to just make the switch if to another software if you are considering upgrading from V9.

So John you think that I always had a dealer lic and I never paid. well sorry not true also have had to spend the company's moneys that are not mine I am not real good at that.

As for there service should be good I know Jerry and his son do a great job of taking care of his customers. I have supportws some of the customers in that area in the past and I give 100%.

But now we turned this into your issue you had and have because it did not work for you.

Now when local colleges are teaching such old software is because there instructors don,t know how to teach the new stuff or the school does not want to spend a few thousand dollars to upgrade and be known as a college that is out dated in technology.

Does Mastercam 9 work hell ya did it work good hell ya. But I also know going back to it after have the tools and option I have now kills me.

Why should anyone have to switch to new software we bought it ...it works so why change .......Do you go and buy a new car every year because they change it a little.....I doubt it you dive it till its paid off then you drive it till it stops working...Now the computer mfg. changed from gas powered to solar so your old sowtware wont work...What are you paying Microsoft kick backs so people cant use there old software. Crooks I say the whole lot of them...I use V-8...and X-4 ...All this stuff is a way to make a toolpath whats the big differance between versions you all change a little bit and want to charge full car price . If it isnt broke dont fix it.....Why not make things afforable for people ..no...no....no..corprate America is to busy screwing the little guy out of his last nickle . Thats whats wrong with this country...Greed no one will help....If theres no money involved....Support ....who supports V-8 no one why because your crooks.....

Really old stuff, can be run in MS Virtual PC in Win7. It is on the Micro$oft site somewhere. Win98,200,ME,XP or whatever you want.
Even Win3.1 if you must.
It will run VESA mode video stuff too.
I'm even running old win32 1998 VESA video stuff on Win7 using DOSBox, and on multiple screens.
Much more stable than MS Virtual PC for old stuff, and is free.
This stuff works really slick on a fast laptop or PC.
