X4 MU2

Can I uninstall MU2?

I recently updated X4 to MU2. Twice today I tried to rotate a simple solid that I created. Here is a list of keystrokes in proper order. Select right side plane, click rotate, select ALL entities, done. At this point, I can see that the solid wasn't selected. Ok try it again another 5 times and still nothing. The 6th time I decided to manually select the solid. That time it selected it. Select done, and input 180° for angle. I think it took that time, but I can't tell because now my solid is GONE!!!! Uninstall MU2

After I uninstalled MU2 I was able to move solids around again. I hope MU3 is in the works.

I'm told there will be no "MU3" and it's on to X5.

Solids and the WCS are suppose to get some attention in X5. I've read where a CNC Software employee has stated you will finally be able to change the faces on solids to different colors. Not sure what's going to happen with the WCS. I would hope it's going to be given a much better user interface.

I currently use X4 MU2 Lathe and havent had the troubles that all of you talk about.I only use Level 1 with no solids. Where are all these bugs you keep talking about?

The numerous bugs "WingNutz" is talking about are well documented on the e-Mastercam web forum and on the web. Suggest you do a Google search. They are so well documented, I'm not sure how much sense it makes to discuss it / complain about it here. Mastercam, for better or for worse, is what it is and if you have been around awhile you realize that these stability problems aren't going to get better anytime soon. In other words, you find ways to deal with it. I highly doubt that Mastercam X5 will have a reworked Machining Operation Manager because it appears to need a total rewrite to fix bugs in it that have existed for many years.

I deal with these issues by setting Mastercam to make 5 incremental backups so that when Mastercam corrupts its own file and the file goes to 0 bytes I can revert to my last good saved file.

The above is just my opinion. Your mileage may vary.

Sorry for the delay.
When you open the file, run Screen > Regenerate Display List.

This is a known bug that is being corrected for X4 MU3

This a reply from CNCSoftware in regards to solids not translating/rotating.

Yup, I'm not very impressed with X4 either. I just updated the other day and now I'm having a problem with toolpath nesting. And it's not opening Solidworks 2010 files correctly. The kicker with that problem is the reason I updated was to gain support for Solidworks 2010 files!

Have X4 installed on a box in the shop next to the machines to make it easier/quicker to do simple fixes, or work while I'm running parts....so....

Mu1 comes out, I've loaded it on other boxes and it's ok. Get around to updating the box in the shop and Bam. It gives me a warning that my box doesn't meet the system requirements.

An old server with DUAL 2.01 AMD's????????

I'd like to know why, in any case, an update needs new hardware?? I'd fully expect that going from 9 to X, X to X1...etc....but an MU?

Is CNC Software hiring Microsoft rejects??? (no, wait..that's redundant)

x4 Contour and Depth problems

I'm having problems with the incremental and absolute depths. If I choose the incremental the z depth with behave as if it is absolute. I can get around that. The main problem with x4 is contouring. After verify I measure the contour and it is undersized. I verified the model, geometry, tool compensation, and wall allowance. I would have to compensate the tool wall allowance in the tool parameter settings to correct the problem. I don't trust that and I'm going back to x3 until the problem is fixed. Does anybody else have this problem or know of a fix. I have downloaded all fixes from master-cam to no avail.

If you had your solid in shaded mode it will not rotate it. Solids must be in wireframe to rotate.
